About Me
I started painting in 2007 and have progressed through trial, error, experimentation and private study. Working full-time and having two young children means I'm very much a part-time painter, finding a few hours in a good week to paint - especially since taking up the low d whistle late 2009. More recently my creative energy and time has been put to use writing a book, Needwood. As an applied psychologist and Reader in Cognitive Ergonomics I have published several academic papers, but this form of non-fiction work is a new departure driven by my love of the landscape. My professional background is drawn upon in setting the scene for the book, as I like to have an understanding of what happens in our minds when we experience nature.
